My trip to China was nothing short of incredible. The country perfectly blends ancient history, breathtaking landscapes, and vibrant modern culture. My cousin and I recently returned from an unforgettable trip to China, and I have to say, the experience was made even more special thanks to our incredible tour guides. From start to finish, their professionalism, knowledge, and hospitality went above and beyond expectations. In Beijing, our guide, Serena, deeply understands history, including the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, and Great Wall. Her stories and insights made each site more meaningful. In Xi‘an, our guide, Roger, was equally outstanding. He shared the fascinating history behind the Terracotta Warriors, visited the ancient cities, and cosplayed with a Tang dynasty outfit at the Big Goose Pagoda. His passion for the city’s culture was genuinely inspiring.

But the magic didn’t stop there. In Chengdu, our guide, Liney, took us to the Panda Breeding Research Base, where we watched giant pandas munch bamboo just meters away. She also led us through a lively hot pot dinner and showed us the city‘s buzzing nightlife. In Zhangjiajie, guide LJ helped us conquer the breathtaking Glass Bridge and the Avatar mountains. Walking among those towering sandstone pillars felt like stepping into a fantasy film. Every guide brought their own warmth and expertise, and by the end of the trip, we didn’t want to say goodbye. China is not just a destination—it‘s a feeling you carry home.

No Chinese, No Problem: Chinotravel Made Our Trip Seamless

We customized our trip with Chinotravel for transfers, train tickets, and local tours. Neither of us speaks Chinese, and this worked perfectly. We chose our destinations and hotels independently; Chinotravel handled the rest. At every stop, a car and English-speaking guide met us, making even simple tasks (like knowing which security line to join) much easier—those things aren't marked, and we'd have wasted time without their help.

One example: traveling from Chengdu to Pingyao. No direct train. Another agency suggested a two-hour wait for a transfer; Chinotravel arranged a car and guide to meet us at the station and drive us directly—only an hour. We reached our hotel before we would have even boarded the second train.

Another: Tongli, a water town with cobblestone walkways where cars aren’t allowed. Our guide thoughtfully arranged a rickshaw to meet us at the city gate. Our luggage went by rickshaw while we walked. In our 70s, dragging suitcases over cobblestones would have been a challenge. Chinotravel handled details we didn’t even know needed handling.
